William Kentridge's "Waiting for the Sibil" at Théatre du Châtelet
Performance

William Kentridge Théatre du Châtelet

In February, the Théâtre du Châtelet will present a unique two-part evening by William Kentridge with the chamber opera, "Waiting for the Sibyl," and the film, "The Moment Has Gone."

"Waiting for the Sibyl," a piece for nine performers, takes place as a series of six short scenes. The work incorporates elements characteristic of Kentridge – projection, live performance, recorded music, dance/movement and shadows projected by the performers onto a hand-painted backdrop – to tell the story of the Cumaean Sibyl.

"The Moment Has Gone" is a 22-minute film with Kyle Shepherd on piano and an all-male South African choir. It incorporates 'City Deep,' the latest film in Kentridge’s Soho Eckstein series, and footage of him creating the work.
