Final Project The 3 Dimensional Self Portrait project that I created taught me a lot about myself and hopefully it will inspire others around me. This took me a while to think of how to put everything together, the most challenging part was finding the right materials to use with the limited supplies I had at my disposal. I looked around my house and went and gathered things that I remember from my childhood and things that are important to me presently what I had come up with was a collection of hardy boys books, diary of a wimpy kid, a statue of Frederick Douglass, and my sketchbook, these items. Although I had a limited option of items choosing them didn't come without struggle, I wanted to tie together the past and the present showing a strong sense of progression. The two collections of books, the "Hardy Boys" and "The Diary of a Wimpy Kid", were some of my favorite books to read when I was younger. I spent hours upon hours of my time reading through them and remembered the excitement I felt while turning each page. My Sketchbook shows a strong progression of my passion and skill for art and is something that I use now.
In the end, I was able to incorporate the three integrated Ordering Principles of Architecture which include hierarchy, repetition, and progression. What made my project special to me was the statue of Frederick Douglass who was a former slave who escaped and had become an abolitionist. The model alone has represented the progression of African American people and the importance of Douglass' history. Throughout the project there was repetition and I thought meticulously about making everything balanced.
