Final Project My work explores the vast depths of art by pushing its boundaries with architecture via the use of the ordering principles hierarchy and transformation. With influence form Sol LeWitt, the father of conceptual and minimal art, I aspired to apply his techniques onto my structure in order to create a meaningful and cohesive design that would serve as a self reflection. I utilized a flower in order to symbolize the cycle of life by illustrating the ways in which petals act throughout the seasons. I was inspired to use a lotus flower, as portrayed in my design via the layering and simplistic shape. The red hues of flower petals are meant to symbolize historic and significant moments in my life that shape my identity. Moreover, I had yellow petals placed on each corner of the structure to symbolize my childhood and events that were pivotal to my growth as a person. They also symbolize my childhood as they are the events that no longer persist in my mind. I also used a russian doll for the base of my project and had the flowers serve as the body, until the top of the doll would close off their structure. Similarly to Sol LeWitt, I placed images from my past, further contributing to the story of my model and leaving the viewers with a better understanding of my ambition and purpose. During my process, I struggled to accurately visually illustrate my life experiences as I had to dig deep into my mind and challenge myself. My use of color provides insight into my feelings during certain periods of my life and milestones. Working with a grid gave me some sense of direction yet it still left me with a lot of room for abstract and free thought.
