Final Project New York has always been something I say is a part of me. The concrete streets have been my path through life. I never feel small next to the skyscraper buildings. Which is why I chose the Empire State Building, one of the many icons of New York. I wanted to solidify my relationship with the model by incorporating photos of my life, my family and the things I love. Which is why I have the images emerge from the building to bring my self portrait aspect to the project. I was inspired by the contrast in the "Geometric Figures" wall art at the Metropolitan Museum of Art by Sol LeWitt. (Mentioned in the presentation). The definition between black and white inspired me to have my own contrast in the photos, but made the photos less abstract to add the structure like the "Geometric Figures" wall drawing. If this were to be a live installation, I would make the model of the Empire State Building big enough for two people to stand inside. The photos presented on the model area mosaic collage material allowing the light to shine through.
