5 JUNE – 21 JULY 2017
MONDAY 5 JUNE 2017, 6–8PM
In 2013 Adrián Villar Rojas inaugurated the Serpentine Sackler gallery with a celebrated and majestic exhibition that defined the young artist’s sculptural language of an “archaeology of the future". For his return to London, he will present a life-size marble reproduction of the legs of Michelangelo’s David in a hallucinatory environment on the first floor of Marian Goodman Gallery London. This exhibition is concurrent with immersive exhibitions, all titled The Theatre of Disappearance, on the rooftop of the Metropolitan Museum in New York; the Kunsthaus Bregenz in Austria and the NEON Foundation in Athens.
His most recent exhibitions include: Two Suns, Marian Goodman Gallery, New York USA (2015); Adrián Villar Rojas – Fantasma, Moderna Museet, Stockholm, Sweden (2015); Adrián Villar Rojas – Films Before Revolution, Museum Haus Konstruktiv, Zürich, Switzerland (2013); Today We Reboot the Planet, Serpentine Sackler Gallery, London, United Kingdom (2013)
